Natural Resource Conservation and Climate Mitigation Trainings
At Global Village, technical trainings will be held on natural resource conservation practices and activities for a variety of farm scales. Topics for this series include conservation and climate-smart agriculture practices:
- Soil and biomass sequestration
- Cover cropping
- No-till methods
- Mulching and composting
- Effective manure and feed management
- Emissions reduction and fossil fuel substitution in farm equipment use
Bilingual farmers (Español / English) will teach you practical application of regenerative agricultural management practices that have been practiced by indigenous peoples for generations. Many of these practices are also considerations for USDA funding programs, such as EQIP and CSP, and you will be informed of these connections to help broaden their value.

Soil Health Training and Assessment Workshops
NOFA/Mass Soil Technical Services Coordinator will run both in person workshops and webinars on best soil health practices and how these practices impact the production and health of your crops. The goal of this training series is to help you understand and interpret soil chemical test results and apply the appropriate amendments. Also, in small groups, you will study the 8 soil health assessment protocols:
- Soil Surface Biology
- Soil Texture and Aggregation
- Bulk Density
- Water Infiltration
- Aggregate Stability
- Earthworm Count
- Soil Hardness
- Active Carbon Test
This process will allow you to independently evaluate the health of their soils and apply climate informed management practices to increase production targets.
